Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following night-time complaints from local residents of noise from its trailers running with conventional steel springs, British Industrial Sand has now fitted its latest trailers with SAF air suspension, supplied by EMS of Loughborough.

HIS currently runs over 100 vehicles nationally, delivering sand to glassworks and foundries, as well as operating sand grinding and processing plants.

Complaints of excess noise were made by residents living alongside a main-road route used by the company making all-night deliveries. To help cut down the noise, HIS decided to make a long term assessment of air suspension. The two new, tandem-axle trailers with SAF suspension have been built by Al-EP Trailers.

Along with the benefits of reduced road noise — particularly when running unladen — HIS will also be evaluating the air-suspended trailers for improved handling and tyre and brake savings.
