• The service lives of engine exhaust systems can be greatly lengthened by spraying super-heated aluminium on to the bare untreated steel, says metal-spraying specialist MCP Equipment. The Stone-based company claims that this hightemperature coating technique confers considerable protection against both oxidation and corrosion.
The process has been developed for MCP's high-temperature electric-arc spraying system, which atomizes and heats aluminium wire 100°C above melting point before spraying it onto the substrate at high velocity.
