• Europe's fastest heavy truck, which has a Rolls-Royce jet-fighter engine, was used to test Don Red Stripe brake lining, as it had to be able to bring 2,270kg (5,000lb) of thrust to a halt from nearly 150mph. Mintex Don showed this new lining at the Motor Show. It uses a material called Kevlar, part of the secret compound which replaces asbestos in Don Red Stripe brake linings and so reduces a potential hazard to mechanics and fitters who handle the material for long periods.
