Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Kalamazoo, launching a new computerised workshop control system at the Motor Show, claimed it will "revolutionise" service departments of garages.

The system, known as Turbo Service Promotion, is a development of an earlier package called Kalamazoo Workshop Manager. The enhanced version features new hardware and a service history system which Kalamazoo says is the only one of its kind available.

Peter Humpidge, managing director of Kalamazoo's motor trade division, explaining the background to the development of the new system, said: "We have developed a system that will give a user complete control over his service department with the added facility of being able to promote his services to new and existing customers".

The new system allows the garage to record every vehicle and customer and then use this information to secure repeat business.

The system monitors the movement of a vehicle through the service cycle. It warns the service controller if a vehicle is delayed and at the touch of a button will give an up to the minute progress report. The information fed into the computer, such as name of customer, address, telephone number, make of vehicle and details of work carried out, forms the basis for the new service promotion feature.
