Travelling to, rather than from, Germany has been a much lighter item than even alloy pistons in fact a small baloon. To wit, the prizewinning balloon in the race run by Goodyear at the CM I.orry Driver of the Year finals in September.
From Bramcote in the Midlands it travelled over 500 miles to Dahlenburg, a small town south-east of Hamburg. Paul Frankcom, of Bristol, who launched it, gets the £10 prize. And the Goodyear contest brought a £25 donation to the TGWU convalescent home fund.
