.Two new members have been appointed to the national council of the Road Haulage Association. Mr J. J. Masters, managing director of E. J. Masters, of Kings Langley, replaces Mr J. P. Wells as the Metropolitan and South Eastern area representative and T. V. R. Boliand, director of technical services and market development at the National Freight Corporation, replaces Mr L. Payne as the NFC representative. The council was due to elect a replacement for Mr Payne to its executive board this week. E. B. R. Smith (Wincanton Transport Ltd, Ipswich) has been elected chairman of the employers' panel on the Road Haulage Wages Council.

Vincent Owen, 'operations engineer of Maidstone and District and East Kent Road Car Co, has been appointed chief engineer of United Automobile Services Ltd with effect from January 1, 1975. Mr Owen was appointed to his present position in January, 1974, following the merging of engineering functions at Maidstone and East Kent.

Tom F. Willis, formerly senior sales executive at head office for Pickfords International (UK) Ltd, has been appointed branch manager, Scotland. B. McGillivray has been appointed to the newly created post of co-ordinator of th`e National Freight Corporation group at international level; he has also been nominated a member of the NFC board of directors.

John Phelps, 46, chief engineer of Eastern Counties Omnibus, becomes chief engineer of Midland Red on January 1.

J. R. Ball, British Airports Authority, B. Callow, London Borough of Hounslow, E. Massey, City of London Corporation, and B. Dalmain, London Borough of Hillingdon, have been elected to the executive of the Association of Municipal Transport Officers. R. W. Ladbroke T,Eng (CEI) MIRTE, FIACE, FIMI, has been elected chairman of the IRTE Council for 1974/5. He has been a member of the council for many terms serving on various committees including chairman of the technical committee. At present he holds the position of consulting engineer.

Two board appointments have been announced by Seddon Atkinson Vehicles Ltd. Roy Wild, the company's chief engineer, joins the board as engineering director, and Fred Smith, ACMA, becomes finance director and company secretary. Mr Wild, 39, has been with the company since 1951. Mr Smith, 42, joined Seddon Atkinson earlier this year as financial planning manager.
