ON Wednesday the executive committee of the Road Haulage Association agreed to recommend to the national -:ouncil that a study group be set up to examine the suggestions embodied in the irst resolution put to, and approved by, the national conference in October, This .esolution called for co-operative haulage mits, a nation-wide network of freight exchanges, and plans for credit facilities, fscounts, and emergency repair systems. The national council will be meeting .owards the end of next January.

Although the R.H.A. does not intend o take the licence endorsement case of Mr. K. P. Venables any further, after he unsuccessful appeal, the Association s still very concerned at the general principle involved and . the executive cornnittee has agreed to examine other posiible ways of tackling this whole luesti on.

The committee has passed to the highways and vehicles committee a recomnendation by the West Midlands area hat, to ensure free passage for ambulances and fire engines, positive standards ;hould be laid down for adequate audible varuine devices on emergency vehicles.
