AWIDE variety of agricultural machinery of all kinds will be seen at the Smithfield Show, which opens at Earls Court, London, on Monday and closes on Friday. Main items of transport interest arc to be found in the trailer and loader exhibits, whilst F. Perkins, Ltd., are introducing two new power units (The •Commercial Motor, November 8 and November 22),

Taskers of Andover (1932), Ltd., Andover, Hants, are to show a comprehensive range of equipment, including trailers, among which will be a new 5-ton farm wagon which is basically a scaledup version of the present 3-tottner, Other wheeled exhibits to be displayed on the stand are two versions of the 3-ton Universal farm trailer with hydraulic tipping gear.
Among the exhibits of F. W. Wheatley (Trailers), Ltd., Wheatley Avenue, Padholme Road, Peterborough, will be an all-steel dumper-type hydraulic end-tipping trailer with a body 10 ft, long and 6 ft wide having 1-ft. 3-in., high fixed sides. Load capacity is 4 tons, and 1-ft. 3-in, extensions for the sides can be provided.
New Oil Engines
The two. new oil engines shown by F. Perkins. Ltd., Peterborough, will be the Four 99 (TA) 1.6-litre unit developing 35 b.h.p. at 3,000 r.p.In., and the P4/192 (TA) agricultural engine incorporating gear drive for the timing and auxiliaries. The P4 is rated to give from 25 b.h.p. at 1,000 r.n.m. to 50.5 b.h.p. at 2.000 r.p.m.
Telehoist, Ltd., Swindon Lane. Cheltenham, Glos, are to display examples from their range of 3-ton and 5-ton endand three-way tipping gears for trailers. together with a Teleloader, which is a fully automatic hydraulic sack lifter for loading sacks weighing up to 3 cwt. The frame is of tubular construction and is available in lengths of 7 ft., 7 ft. 9 in. and 8 ft. 6 in.. and is readily fitted to vehicles or trailers.
A Manuel-Roadless 4WD Fordson Major tractor will he shown by Roadless Traction, Ltd., Hounslow, Middx. This machine has a special driven front axle with large wheels and cross-country tyres. and models arc available to accent the Whitlock Dozaloader and the Dinkum Digger.
The proposed Agricultural (Power Take-off) Regulations call for adequate nrotection of exposed drives between tractor and implement. Atkinson's Agricultural Appliances, Ltd., Kendal Street, Clitheroe, Lanes, are to show as one of their exhibits an enclosing corrugated flexible sheath which surrounds the shaft drive between the tractor and its towed appliance deriving power from the rear power take-off of the tractor. Other machines to be displayed by this concern are the Universal Spreader and the Spreadall Mark 11/.
Fabric-nylon-bearing track-rod joints are to be included in the equipment seen on the stand of the Automotive Products Co., Ltd., Leamington Spa. The joints consist of a full spherical ball pin supported in a composite bearing.
The upper and lower halves of the bearing are of compressed fabric impregnated with a patented dry lubricant, with a nylon ring interposed between them. The action is such that normal loads are carried on the fabric, which provides a smooth resilient bearing, whilst heavier
Loads compress the fabric sufficiently to allow the load to be taken on the nylon ring.
