Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE increasing use al small cars led to a decline in demand f r buses on the home market. However, road congestion and the difficulty of finding parking spaces in towns might induce business people and shoppers to revert to buses for the whole or the latter parts of their journeys. This is stated by Mr. Arthur L. Blower. chairman of _Guy Motors, Ltd.. in his annual report.

He added that overseas demand for passenger vehicles fortunately continued to expand, and the size and power of the company's vehicles were being increased to suit buyers' needs.

Mr. Blower said that the purchase tax on goods vehicles should be removed, and added his voice to those who maintain that success in the export market depended on a flourishing business at home. It was, however, encouraging to find that the Government were now taking action in regard to wage demands which were not matched with increases in productivity.

• " During the year, despite increases in wage rates and the price of materials, which to a large extent are beyond our control, a reduction in the cost of production has been achieved by adopting improved methods, and substantial savings made in overhead charges in order to place the company in a stronger competitive position," he says.
