AMOST interesting development. in the field of battery-electric vehicles and industrial trucks is the agreement just reached between the Austin Motot Co., Ltd., and Crompton Parkinson, Ltd., for equal partnership in a company called Austin-Crompton Parkinson Electrical Vehicles, Ltd. This concern will continue and expand the manufacture of such vehicles formerly carried on by Crompton Parkinson. Ltd-, through its associated companies—A. E. Morrison and Sons, Ltd., and EIectricars, Ltd.—which also will be merged with the new company. The responsibility for the manufacture will be taken over by the Austin concern on January 1.

SCHOOL FOR TYRE REPAIRERS

ATYRE repair school at Brentford is being planned by the National

Association of Tyre Specialists. The school will be housed in the premises of the Association's hon. treasurer, Mr. E. Schofield, who has recently installed some of the latest steam and electric plant for the repair of covers of all sizes. Members of the Association will be able to send their employees to the school for tuition.

The Association is also forming a London and Home Counties group.

WIDE SCOPE OF TOGGLE FASTENER

TO an existing range of cowling fasteners, the Fairey Aviation Co., Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex, has added a toggle fastener which has a wide variety of uses, both industrial and domestic. and is obviously applicable to commercial-vehicle bodies.

It is flush-fitting when closed and requires but a light push to open or close. Positive locking is ensured by toggle action under all conditions, Lad operation is simplified by spring mechanism. There is clear indication of the open and closed positions. Lightness of weight and sturdiness of construction are combined, and the fastener can withstand 250 lb. each in tension and shear.

Ltd., have declared a final dividend of 10 per cent., making 20 per cent. for the year. The net profit for the past financial year was £60,690, against £145,179^ in 1944-45. A balance of £14,181 is carried forward.
