The night was cold, dark, and very wet. In response to a signal the last bus to town pulled in to the sidewalk of a suburban lane.
"Issher room for two ?" hiccoughed the -would-be passenger. The conductor peered into the gloom. " Garn! " said he. " Yer feelin' double. • There's only one of you." " Scushe me (hie)!" came the dignified reply. "I have a geramelum friend with me (Inc), but you can't shee him 'caushe he's (hic) Plying down."
