REMEMBER all those times when you are sitting in your office, thinking that life is going smoothly, and some awkward colleague comes along and wants to know, on the spot, how many miles he can drive that day ... and, oh, by the way, is it legal for him to tow an aeroplane?
Do not despair, relief is at hand in the shape of The Traffic Officer's Companion (by Gordon Wilson, Police Review Publishing, £2.75) which, although intended for police officers, is as valuable to their customers. There are details, with drawings and diagrams, of construction and use regulations, documentation, lighting and marking, drivers' hours and records, and such assorted matters as testing, dangerous goods transport, builders' skips, and crash helmet law.
