The 2100 and 2300 series connue but with a rationalised pecification and to these will be dded the 2500 series.
All three model series share ertain design features including le revised cab.
The large DAF steering wheel as been replaced by a fourpoke design and the old dashyard mounted indicator and lasher stalks have been re'laced by a multi-function stalk in the steering column, a feaure shared with the larger 2800 Ind 3300 model ranges,
Another similarity with the 3rger models is the completely evised electrical system, with he main junction box located Iside the cab over the engine unnel.
All the engines for the niddleweights are devlopments of the familiar DAF 125 litre (503 cu in) six-cylinder init. For the 2500, the turbobarged and charge-cooled DHS fersion is fitted which develops 82kW (244bhp) at 2,400rpm and 105Nm (668 lbft) torque at ,60Orpm.
The turbocharged-only DHT a riant produces 1 6 0 kW 215bhp) and 750Nm (555 Ibft). The 16-ton and the 24-ton 2100 tractive unit both use the naturally aspirated version of the same basic engine, designated the DH 825, which produces 112kW (151bhp) and 500Nm13701bft) torque.
The new 2500 range comprises a 38 tonne 4x 2 tractive unit and drawbar rigids in 4x2 and 6x2 format.
The 2300 range now consists of just one vehicle, the 6x4 rigid FAT 2300 which features the ZF nine-speed synchromesh 5S-92 GP gearbox and DAF single reduction drive axles.
The 2100 range is divided into two sections, those with the turbo DHT engine and those using the naturally aspirated DH unit.
The turbocharged models include a 4x2 tractive unit together with 4x2 and 6x2 rigids all featuring the ZF S6-80 with GV80 splitter.
The naturally aspirated 2100 range includes the 16 tanner and the lightweight 24-ton tractive unit.
For these models, DAF has adopted the new ZF S6-36 gearbox with GV 36 splitter which is claimed to be over 140kg (3081b) lighter than the unit it replaces.
