Vehicle Recorder THE latest addition to the range of recording instruments made by Speedograph Ltd. is the Mode! 57 Vehicle Standing and Running Time Recorder. The instrument is similar in design, construction and operation to other recorders of the same type and it can be mounted in any position—horizontal, vertical or inclined. All working parts are sealed against the ingress of dust and moisture and it is claimed that the instrument is virtually tamperproof. Recordings are made by a sapphire-tipped stylus on an easily readable wax-impregnated chart. Types are available for recording periods of 12 hours, 24 hours or seven days. in the case of the seven-day model, the instrument carries a pack of seven charts which automatically change at midnight on each day. An accurate recording is therefore made of ;tinning and standing times on any particular day.

Electric Trucks and Tractors• LEAFLETS on the company's electric trucks and its Type 4E 1-4 electric tractor have been published by R. A. Lister and Co. Ltd. The electric trucks have capacities of I and 2 tons and are available witha wide range of chassis types. The power unit incorporates a heavy-duty 24-V. series-wound traction motor and has a 1-hour rating of 2-5 h.p. The traction motor of the Type 4E electric tractor is a 36-V.. heavy duty, self-ventilating 6 h.p. unit. Power is transmitted through a duplex chain drive and double Hardy Spicer universal coupling with extendible propeller shaft to a heavyduty, rear axle incorporating hypoid differential reduction
, gearing.

Wash and Polish ACOMBINED wash and polish chemical for paintwork has been introduced by Holt Products Ltd. Called Molts Car Wash, it contains, as well as cleaning agents, a proportion of wax, which is left on the surface Of the bodywork after use.

Magnetic Plugs A S a result of a recent agreement with the Technical Develo ment Co. of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., Vactric Control Equi ment Ltd. is now making under licence a range of Tede components including self-closing magnetic drain plugs suitab for vehicle gearboxes, driving axles and engines.
These are patented devic developed initially for aircraft us which allow particles picked up fro the oil in the unit to be discoven and removed without draining ai oil. Two types are made, both havii two parts, a valve body and magnet plug.
The illustration shows a typic plug, this being a bayonet type whe the magnetic portion is pushed hon and turned to lock. With the oth type, the magnet is screwed in. 1 both cases when the magnetic portic is removed, the valve closes at prevents escape of oil.

Improved Draughting Film riA NEW draughting material is to be introduced by Int Ltd. next week. It is a super-matted polyester drawing fill called Draflex and has as its base Melinex polyester film mac by I.C.1. Ltd.
The surface of the film is capable of accepting graphite an waterproof pencils, drawing inks and typewriting, and becaus of a special coating multiple erasures and redrawing can t undertaken. No surface preparation such as " talcing " required and the ink " take " of the film provides a clean lit of equal density.
The transparent nature of Draflex provides a good mediui for reproduction by all photo-copying processes and it is to h available in three thicknesses-0.002 in., 0-003 in. and 0005 in.with roll widths of 30 in. and 40 in.
