Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LeATER this year, all Atkinson doubledrive goods chassis will have a new Kirkstall bogie as standard, this having hypoid-bevel crown wheels in the singlereduction axles, although the drive first passes through a single-helical reduction train which incorporates a lockable third differential, thereby giving a doublereduction effect.

The new bogie will replace the 7.75-in. overhead-worm-axle bogie at present used in all Atkinson normal-duty models, and besides being lighter it has a higher transmission efficiency. As revealed last week, heavy-duty double-drive chassis are now available with a new Kirkstall heavy-duty bogie incorporating spiralbevel and spur gear double-reduction axles, whilst for some time now singledrive Atkinsons powered by the Gardner 6LX diesel have been fitted with bevel axles as standard.
