When a Stirling lorry driver appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on a charge of failing to keep a record of a certain journey, the Fiscal said that the defendant had been charged at 11.30 a.m., when he had completed part of his trip. He discovered, however, on examining the regulations, that nothing was said regarding the time when the log book should be filled in. The Fiscal took the view that the driver should snake an entry when he had completed part of the journey.

Sheriff J. Dean Leslie said that every 24 hours' work should be entered. He asked the defendant whether he had entered a record at the end of the day and, on receiving an affirmative reply, dismised the case.
