111k plan to locate a major lorry park at Mosscnd, in Lanarkshire, has raised a storm of protest locally, compelling Motherwell District Council to call a meeting between sponsor Strathallan Enterprises and protesters.
The protesters fear child abduction and a wave of prostitution will arise if a 610vehicle park is located in their area.
They say a lorry park should be located in isolation, distant from any town likely to suffer from a nightly invasion of transient workers from Britain and the Continent.
