Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

a) the tyre is unsuitable having regard to the i to which the motor vehicle or trailer is ng put or to the types of tyres fitted to its er wheels:

IA the tyre is not so inflated as to make it for the use to which the motor vehicle or ler is being put: c) the tyre has a break in its fabric, or has ut in excess of one inch or 10 per cent of section width of the tyre, whichever is the ater, measured in any direction on the oute of the tyre and deep enough to reach the iv cords; d) the tyre has any lump or bulge caused by raration or partial failure of its structure;

These provisions do not apply to a land locomotive, a land tractor, land implement or land implement conveyor or to an agricultural trailer when being drawn by a land tractor. But the regulation further states that no vehicle or trailer shall be used on the road with a recut pneumatic tyre whose fabric has been cut or exposed by the recutting process; and that tyres shall be free of any defect which might in any way cause damage to the surface of the road or danger to those in the vehicle or other road-users.

The reference to suitable tyres in (a) will make it an offence to use tyres which are below the correct rating or which are a mixture of types; for example, radial and cross-ply tyres should not be mixed on the same axle, radials should not be fitted on the front axle wheels only, and dissimilar types should never be fitted together on twin wheels.
