EASTERN National Engineering has won the 1984 National Bus Company chairman's award for innovation.
The award was for the company's development of a static test rig for Leyland Hydracyclic gearboxes, which allows the boxes to be adjusted and run in before being fitted to the vehicles, thus reducing vehicle downtime.
Eastern National Engineering is to market the rig to operators with large fleets of Leyland Tigers and Olympians with Hydracyclic gearboxes.
