Herr E. Thurnherr, of Zurich, has replaced Monsieur J. E. Cuenod, of Geneva, as president of the Swiss goods vehicle operators' association, Verband Schweizerischer Motorlastwagenbesitzer. The association now has 3,000 members operating 14,000 vehicles.

Mr. K. W. C. Grand, who was until recently chairman of the Railway SubCommission of the British Transport Commission, has asked the Minister of Transport to accept his resignation as a member of the British Transport Commission with effect fom July 2. The Minister has agreed to do so.

1314 Mr. A. A. Barr and Mr. G. J. B. Williams have joined the board of Expandite, Ltd. Their appointments follow the recent announcement that the Expanditc Group has joined the Castro] Group of companies. Mr. Barr, who is 51, is an assistant managing director of Castro!, Ltd., and Mr. Williams, 37, is the Group's projects and development executive.

Mr. D. P. Counihan, traffic superintendent (Central Road Services), London Transport, is to retire on July 28. He is 66.

Mr, A. G. Day, assistant to the chief supplies and services officer of London Transport, has been appointed an officer of the Executive with the title of contracts officer. Mr. Day will be responsible to the chief supplies and services officer for the negotiation and letting of major contracts for the supply of capital equipment. and also for the operation of London Transport's road services ticket machine works at Effra Road.

Mr. E. W. Hardiman and Mr. K. C. Hunt have been appointed to the board of the Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd. Mr. Hardiman, who is 49, joined Esso in 1931 as a chemist and became general manager (marketing) in 1959. Mr. Hunt, 52, joined Esso in 1937 and later went to Esso Research. Ltd. He was appointed a director of that company in 1960 and rejoined the Esso Petroleum Co. in 1961 as research and development adviser.
