YORKSHIRE MERCHANTS SEEK LICENCE FOR CARRIAGE BETWEEN PORTSMOUTH AND HULL
ALARGE variation request appears in the South Eastern publication this week. W. H. Skinner and Son, Ltd., of Marden, which is near Tonbridge, Kent, ask to add to their A licence six vehicles totalling 25 tons unladen. The user is extremely wide. It is described simply as "Goods, mainly within 350 miles." No doubt the R.H.A. and B.T.C. will investigate this application before it reaches the public inquiry stage.
An application in the Yorkshire area for a new B licence seems, on the face of it, to be the wrong way round. P. Hannema, Ltd., of Hull, who describe themselves as potato merchants, ask for three vehicles to carry Jersey potatoes for the Jersey New Potato Marketing Organization "between Portsmouth and Hull." South Eastern-based operators will, no doubt, be looking into this. Contract A and C licence conversion requests are as follows:— Contract A to A lie.: Scottish (South): Stewart Cameron (Drymen), Ltd., Drymen Station. Metropolitan: W. S. Dobinson, E.l; A. E. Ewer, Ltd., E.3.
