Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Occasionally my joc requires me to move demountable cabins from A to B on public roads. The majority of these cabins contain 13kg gas bottles to power internal equipment, though some carry four 47kg bottles.

Am I right in thinking that although these journeys do not come under vocational training ADR regulations, each cabin should carry "flammable gas" stickers and a Tremcard should accompany each movement on a public road?

Annemarie Davies Manchester There are many exemptions in the ADR regulations for the transportation of dangerous substances, including those relating to the small quantities of substances carried, or exemptions where the carriage is undertaken by a business ancillary to its main activity (which could include your transportation of these cabins).

However, before these exemptions are relied upon you must know the exact nature of the product being carried, the size of the packaging and the actual quantity of the product being transported—something that can be very difficult in a partially used bottle!

All exemptions are listed in the ADR regulations which covers the names of products, the size of containers and the maximum transportable amounts if the exemptions are to be claimed.

However, if there is any doubt you should always work on the basis that you are required to comply with the regulations and, as you have indicated, display the relevant warning signs and carry the right paperwork.
