SLOUGH-BASED Bruce Bishop & Sons has been ordered to pay £6,312 in fines and costs for illegally dumping waste oil.
Swindon magistrates heard that on 7 February 2003 Donald Woodbridge collected a skip filled with waste metal from a site in Swindon. He then stopped his truck and manoeuvred the skip to allow him to drain about 110 litres of oil from a hole in the base.
A security video showed him poking the hole to allow the waste liquid to flow out quickly before he blocked it up with a rag.
Following the incident,EnvironmentAgency officers visited Bruce Bishop's premise to investigate its procedures for dealing with waste oils.
The company claimed it had training and procedures in place to deal with liquid spillages,but failed to provide any written records.
Sid Phelps, investigating officer for the Environment Agency, says: -Companies and employees must realise that a wanton disregard for the environment as shownby these actions is simply not acceptable."
Like the company,Woodbridge, of Win ki ield, Berks. pleaded guilty to dumping the oil. He was tined £750 with £450 costs.
