cab shell using resin transfer moulding (RIM) technology The Unimog cab has been developed by a Mercedes sister company—aerospace firm Dornier—and will eventually become standard on the range; the finish is already good enough for production. Low tooling costs are ideal for limited-production specialist vehicles and RIM gives a high proportion of fibre to resin, so the structure needs no steel subframe.
