Plating issue

• The end to modification of goods vehicles when replating emerged as a possibility last week as the DOT started to look at the issue. The RHA is arguing that as long as a new plated weight is kept within the design weight the requirement to modify the vehicle should be dropped.

Signing on

• All Transcare's 500-plus employees are expected to sign up to the new terms and conditions which are claimed to lose drivers around £60 a week. The Tibbett & Britten division has said that those refusing to sign will be advised "of the company's intentions with respect to their future employment".

Ian Cott Haulage • In our Legal News story headed "Load, Rest and Use Fine", in the issue of Commercial Motor 15-21 July, we stated that Ian Catt, trading as Ian Catt Haulage, and his son Lee were fined a total of £782 for various offences in connection with the use of a goods vehicle. In fact, the fines and cost amounted to £506.

Ian Catt Haulage was not fined for the unauthorised use of a vehicle as stated in the report, but was given a conditional discharge for using a vehicle with no 0Licence.
