ACOMPLETELY new bus service over

Harrow Hill is to be introduced by London Transport on Monday, August 8. It will be operated on Mondays to Fridays by one-man single-deckers, and is being run on an experimental basis.

The new service will be numbered 136, and will run between South Harrow and Harrowon-the-Hill stations, buses operating a frequency of about every 25 minutes for the greater part of the day from 07.30 until 21.30. The service is being introduced at the request of Harrow Council and its continuation will depend upon the use made of it.

London Transport also announces that 39-seat, one-man single-deckers will replace double-deckers on route 121 (Enfield-Chingford) on Mondays to Fridays from the same date. The frequency will be slightly increased; no change will be made to the Saturday service, which is to continue with double-deckers, and no Sunday service will be operated.

Finally, one-man single-deckers will take over from crew-operated buses on route 234A as from August 7, and alternate buses on doubledeck route 234 (Selsdon-Purley-Wallington) will be extended to Hackbridge during Monday to Friday peak hours following the completion of alterations to the railway bridge and roadway at Wallington station.
