Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EUROPEAN CV registrations fell by 9% in 2008, with van sales the worst affected — dropping by 10.4%.

November and December saw the largest falls for the year, 30.8% and 24.4% respectively, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, indicating further drops in 2009.

There were mixed fortunes in the light CV category, with Luxembourg (15.3%) and the Netherlands (4.8%) making gains. while Denmark (-40.1%). Spain (-39.7%) and Ireland (-32,0%) were the worst affected in the EU states. The UK suffered a 14.9% decline.

There was slightly less impact in the HGV sector, which fell by 3% overall. However Finland, the Netherlands and the UK managed to buck the trend, recording 14.4%, 19.3% and 16.3% increases respectively.

The main losers in the EU were Spain (down 30%) and Ireland (-29%), while in Eastern Europe Estonia and Lithuania both suffered drops of more than 30%.
