RENAULT Vehicules Industriels has released more details of its joint project with China to market a medium-weight lorry in the Central African country of Cameroon.
Designated to EQD 142, it is basically a Chinese design but fitted with an RVI engine developing 100kW (133bhp).
This is a naturally aspirated engine, which is built at the RVI factory at Limoges and is similar to certain engines in the medium weight J-range from Renault.
Under the terms of the agreement, 100 chassis will be built at China's Number Two factory at Shiyan in the province of Hubai in central China.
This factory currently produces petrol-engined versions of a similar chassis at the rate of 50,000 per year.
The vehicles are expected to leave the factory by the end of September.
