Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Since its introduction early last year, design improvements have been made to the 22-seat Sparshatt bus body mounted on the Leyland 420 or 550 FG chassis (CM April 10 1970). A 28-seat body has also been designed for mounting on the Leyland Terrier 850 TR chassis.

J. H. Sparshatt and Sons Ltd, Burrfields Road, Portsmouth, has built bus bodies for the export market for some time; the refinements, together with the robust construction, make the new model especially suitable for psv duties as a stage or semi-luxury bus, and for welfare, schools or works contracts services.

An example of the revised 22-seat bus was exhibited at Earls Court, and this model has now been passed for certification as psv and successfully tilt-tested. The accompanying drawing shows the lines of the 28-seat body for the Leyland Terrier; the same lines are employed on the smaller model, although one large side window replaces the two windows immediately behind the entrance. Notable features are the use of identical grp panels at the front and rear, with interchangeable screens, and the attractive new frontal grille.

The main frame of the bus is of heavy-duty mild steel sections, and the external side panelling is of 18 swg aluminium alloy. Interior trim and seating are provided according to specification, with 0.5in. resin bonded plywood floor covered with heavy linoleum as standard.
