Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ASCHEDULE of rates for the haulage of grain in bulk has been prepared by the agricultural group national committee of the Road Haulage Association. The rates are 641. a ton higher than those recommended for grain in sacks.

The surcharge allows for the higher capital cost of vehicles and higher taxation resulting from their greater unladen weight, the reduced opportunities of gaining return loads, the smaller carrying capacity of vehicles in relation to their weight, and increased requirements in maintenance.

The following schedule is intended to apply where there are normal loading facilities:—

THE fifth stage of London Transport's conversion of trolleybus routes to Routemaster-bus operation will be completed on February 3, when five routes in east and north-east London will be affected.

Trolleybus routes 557, 669, 685, 689 and 690 will be withdrawn from West Ham and Walthamstow garages. They will be replaced by a new pattern of services, with new facilities and route extensions.

West Ham depot already operates 15 Routemasters, but the new conversions will call for a further 58 vehicles. Walthamstow will operate 46 Routemasters together with 44 remaining trolleybuses.

TIMBER SUB-COMMITTEE

TIMBER hauliers in London have formed a committee, under the chairmanship of Mr. A. E. Drain, chairman of the Metropolitan and South Eastern Area of the Road Haulage Association, to establish close liaison with the timber trade. The object is to eliminate delays at docks and difficulties over the classification of loads.

" PINK-ZONE " SURVEY

I-1 A SURVEY of all aspects of the " pinkzone" experiment is being conducted by the Traders' Road Transport Association. Members are being asked to report their experiences in collecting or distributing goods in Central London while the scheme has been operating.
