Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

wax reference to your series of articles under the title "Anomalies in Trailer Law," I agree with F. W. Knight regarding the confusion that often arises because of the same term being used to describe both four-wheeled and semi-articulated trailers.

May I suggest that a normal tractor should always be called "tractor," a four-wheeled trailer " trailer " and an articulated vehicle complete, a " tractral," whilst a semi-trailer might be called a " semit." The tractor portion of the tractral could still be referred to as a tractor.

Some people to whom 1 have suggested this scheme have immediately raised the objection that the new terms would not catch on," but if one of the larger manufacturers of semi-trailers, such as Scatnmell, were to use these, or perhaps more suitable terms, in their literature and advertisements, I believe that they would soon be adopted generally. They might eventually .even find their way into Government publications!
