A GREEMENTS between the British I–% Transport Commission and three hauliers for the payment of £461,474 compensation w er e confirmed in London on Tuesday by the Transport Arbitration Tribunal. Beckett Bros. (H(ulage), Ltd., are to receive £136,974, Cliff ords (Fulham), Ltd., £168,500, and W. H. Bowker, Ltd., £156,000.

The Tribunal granted a further adjournment, to enable the parties to reach a settlement, in the case of Wright Bros. (Wolverhampton), Ltd„ who are in dispute with the Commission as to whether 100 vehicles in their undertaking were relevant propel-Sy for compensation when the business was nationalized.

The matter first came before the Tribunal as interlocutory proceedings on December 21 last.

Mr. J. Richardson, for the Commission, applied for a further adjournment until April 26, to enable the parties to prepare a case for trial if the negotiations broke down. It was expected that in a fortnight or three weeks' time, it would be known whether the parties were able to come to terms.

Granting the adjournment, Mr. C. Montgomery White, QC., chairman, commented: "We are getting a little restive about the number of cases that are hanging on and not being settled. Those who are entitled to compensation should have their compensation assessed and agreed. It is quite time this case was settled."

This was the last time that the court would grant an adjournment in the case.
