• Small hauliers must concentrate on quality if they are to win business from bigger companies, says a top transport consultant.
Klaas Westerkamp told the east-west road haulage conference in Stockholm that big western European haulage companies are increasingly subcontracting out their haulage business so they can concentrate on providing warehousing facilities and even small-scale manufacturing. "These big haulage companies need small companies to be quality conscious," he says. Flexibility, speed and cost are the key factors for customers, he adds.
