• Danzas UK, the Swiss-based Transport Group, has unveiled plans to double in size over the next five years, creating hundreds of drivers' jobs.
The British operation aims to increase its annual turnover by 100% to more than L150ni and expects to create around 350 jobs—most in warehousing and driving.
The company established a foothold in the UK in the early eighties and has a £78m turnover with a workforce of 650.
Theo de Fender, managing director of Danzas UK, says most of its existing business was as a freight forwarder from mainland Europe.
"We are proposing to offer a portfolio of services to build on our traditional forwarding base.'' This would involve developing Danzas distribution and extra services such as picking, sorting and sub-assembly work, The opening of an £8m distribution centre at Purfleet on the M25 forms part of the expansion strategy.
