• Pochin Plant is progressively to fit Eminox stainless steel silencers and spark arrestors to all 90 of its Mercedes concrete pumping units.
Mounted horizontally behind the cab, they will replace exhausts mounted beneath the front bumper which have to be fitted with portable arrestors before entering oil refineries or chemical, gas, and sewage works, "The trucks regularly go offroad, and the exhausts keep getting damaged," says Pochin general service manager, Paul Blanchard.
Eminox dual-element selfcleaning cyclonic-type arrestors are designed to stop incandescent particles flying out of the exhaust gas stream.
They will be specified on new vehicles and retrofitted when damaged exhausts need changing.
Etninox expects to sell around 1,000 of its continuously recirculating exhaust traps in the UK and Sweden this year.
