an unusual locking system to its latest sliding bogie skeletal trailer. The Double C system involves the adoption of the fifth wheel and kingpin locking mechanism to locate and secure the sliding bogie. It means that locking pins do not have to be correctly located and secured.
The driver sets the trailer brakes, disengages the kingpin lock, swings down the rear bolsters, if open, and reverses or drives forward to shorten/lengthen the trailer. The kingpin engages in its new position automatically.
The skeletal is designed to carry 20ft and 40ft containers at 38 and 44 tonnes GCW.
