M. CLAUDE LEBLANC, delegate-general of the F&Ieration Nationale des Transports koutiers (the French road transport association) and formerly its secretary-general, has been elected Chevalier of the Legion of Honour.

COUNCIL TO RUN TOURS?

MYSTERY tours around the city's beauty spots and places where building development has changed the appearance of the districts, are planned for this year's Bank Holiday weeks by Leicester Transport Department. The trips would be about 20 miles long and it is proposed that fares should be Is. for adults and 6d. for children.

It is *considered that the tours will be popular with older people, who would find it interesting to compare places as they remembered them with their present appearance.

CUSTOMS RETURN 1250

ATAXICAB owner who had to pay the Customs £250 for the return of a vehicle which was seized after it was found to be carrying smuggled cigarettes, has had the money refunded. The injustice of this seizure was emphasized by " The Commercial
