A cab driver was summoned by Lieut.-Col. It. L. Aspinall, D.S.O., for refusing to drive him. The defendant stated that the Colonel had refused to pay him the balance of a fare on a former occasion, and that this constituted a reasonable -excuse within the meaning of the Act of Parliament (1 and 2, William IV., Chap. 2i See. 34; and le and 17, Viet., Chap. 23, Sec. 7) for refusing to carry him again. Mr. Plowden stated thai it was the driver's duty to carry the oustomer, and if the fare was refused to eummon him. He fined the defendant Ine. with 2s. costs.
