POLLOCK (SCOTRANS) has taken delivery of 10 Euro-5 Volvo FHs as the partnership between the two enters its 39th year.

The 10 6x2 tractor units, with 500hp engines, Globetrotter XL cabs and the I-Shift automated transmission, were supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland.

Nine of the 10 trucks will be used on Pollock's long-distance operations, while the 10th will be double-shifted on a mixture of tipper and retail distribution work. Four of the new Volvos will be

based at Pollock's operating centre in Blyth, Northumberland, with the remaining six running from its Bathgate headquarters in West Lothian.

They join the firm's fleet of 186 vehicles and 340 trailers.

MD Scott Pollock said: "We have always had at least 30 FH tractor units in our fleet from the mid-1990s onwards.

"The latest FH range offers an unrivalled driving environment for our long-distance staff, and we've always found Volvos to be extremely reliable."
