• Road experts are questioning the Government's road building programme after the cancellation of a 110m project just days before tenders were due to be submitted.
The late cancellation of planned junction improvements at Gypsy Corner and Western Circus on the A40 in west London cuts the number of new schemes due to be started this year to only five.
It has left construction companies. which spent 1:3m tendering for the work, demanding compensation. The British
Federation's deputy direc:, Paul Everitt says work may b, delayed for another three years_
