• Truck theft is on the increase and the Road Haulage Association says more and more stolen lorries are being used for "ram and grab" raids.

The association is advising all hauliers to review their security measures and to warn drivers not to be heroes.

Prime targets are trucks carrying tobacco, wine and spirits. Graham Houghton, the RHA's security controller, says the worst areas are Essex and East London, and eqlls for all commercial vehicles to be fitted with security equipment — instead of operators relying on their drivers' bravado.
