ESSO, BP, Shell and Texal tanker drivers are claiming "substantial" wage increas according to Transport and Ge eral Workers' Union commerci group secretary Jack Ashwell.
While he would not 58 exactly how much more ti tanker men are seeking i percentage terms, it is ut derstood that they want mo than the 11 per cent increas. accepted by Mobil drivers earlii this year. Mr Ashwell is enterir the negotiations with "an ope mind", he told CM earlier th week.
It is also thought that a redui tion in working hours is bein claimed in what Mr Ashwell den cribes as a "repetition c previous arguments to the o companies".
A Shell spokesman told Cl that the company has still t clarify parts of the claim with th Union, while BP is studying th claim, according to one of it spokesmen.
