• A new range of semi-trailers is announced this week by Highway Trailers (Great Britain) Ltd, They will be known as the 75 Fleet Special Range and will cover gross vehicle weights in the lightweight range from 16 to 18 tons and in the mediumweight range from 20 to 32 tons. A third designation, H, will cover vehicles from 32 to 44 tons g.v.w. which have been designed to comply with the proposed Construction and Use Regulation changes.
At the Press conference announcing the new range Highway also revealed that it had purchased D.H. Morgan (Engineers) Ltd.— the patentees of the Morgan Hydro-Couple detachable swan neck machinery carrier. Morgan is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Highway Trailers which will continue to build and develop the Hydro-Couple as part of its range of trailer equipment. For the present these models will be built for payloads of 10 to 25 tons but future development is likely for higher payloads and for alternative applications.
