Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Complete 14-ton and 16-ton-gross two-axle tippers, with lightweight bodies saving 10cwt in comparison with a steel body, are now being offered ex-works by Seddon Motors Ltd., Oldham, Lanes, on 12ft 6in. wheelbase models. A complete Seddon 16: four tipper weighs only 4 tons 17 cwt, it is claimed. The retail price, including a flitched chassis, wo-speed axle, power steering and single-ram tipping gear, is £3,376 for such a 16-ton-gross mcee.. The light weight means that an 11-ton payload is easily achieved.

The light-alloy body, built by Seddon's Pennine bodybuilding division, weighs only 10.5 cwt. The floor, with integral bottom covings, is of 0.25 in. thick aluminium-alloy and most of the res1 of the construction is of 0.188 in. thick hard alloy, except for the sides and bottom side rails which are 0.125 in, thick. The body is of welded construction without cross-bearers, the body floor being supported on deep longitudinal pressings which also act as the booy sub-frame.

Either single-ram or twin-ram Edbro tipping gear can be specified; the price is not affected by the choice of tipping gear. Capacities of 8, 9 or 10 Cli. yd. are available, all bodies being 13ft 6in. long and 8ft wide, overall. A topand-bottom dual-hinged tailboard is the standard rear-end arrangement. There is an option, again with no difference in price, of a high-top hinged tailboard.
