• Programme details of the Road Haulage Association's conference at Aviemore, Scotland, October 13 to 15, have now been announced.

Among several unusual features of this three-day meeting will be the presentation of a paper which won the first prize in the association's essay competition.

Training will be considered from a different angle on the final day when three well-known transport journalists will put questions to one of the industry's representatives on the RTITB, Mr. W. McMillan, a R HA vice-chairman. Later on that day the questions will be directed to Mr. Alex Kitson, general secretary, Scottish Commercial Motorman's Union.

Alexander, Glasgow University will speak on road haulage and the national economy: 3 p.m. "Industrial relations", by Mr. K. J. Johnson, director, Industrial Affairs, Confederation of British Industry. Wednesday, October 15, 10 a.m., "Operators' licences and associated problems", by Mr. T. H. Campbell-Wardlaw: 11.30 a.m., questions from the Press—Mr. McMillan and Mr. Kitson will answer questions from J. P. B. Sherriff (deputy editor, Commercia/Motor), J. P. Hine (assistant editor,Motor Transport) and A. E. Sherlock-Mesher (editor, Road Way): 2.30 p.m., discussions with members outlining problems for suggested solution by other members: 3.30 p.m., proposals for the 1970 R HA conference: 7 pro., banquet and ball.
