The plan is to use the RHA's collective buying power to secure cut-price crossings for trucks through the Channel Tunnel, allowing them to fill up with cheap Continental diesel before returning in time for the next week's work.
RHA national chairman John Bridge says: We are looking to help people to take a truck through the tunnel at the weekend to fill up with cheap fuel. It's a sad scenario where hauliers can find it profitable to do this type of thing at the
weekend. The Government can't duck the fact that fuel is the killer" The scheme could be in place as soon as B May.
