• Hauliers are determined to continue their fight against "scandalous" parking penalty charges on Granada service stations after rejecting concessions offered during a showdown meeting between Granada bosses and trade bodies.
George Jones of Shropshire-based Morris Transport says the decision to drop the maximum parking penalty charge from £90 to .£60 is "meaningless".
"Hauliers still won't pay £60," says Jones, who is awaiting a court summons after one of his drivers failed to pay a Granada parking fee (CMS-14 April).
"It is outrageous that hauliers have to pay these fees and then face these charges. Haulers will fight this in the courts."
But following last week's meeting between the Freight Transport Association, the Road Haulage Association and Granada, the PTA says it is pleased with the outcome and will meet with Granada again in the autumn to review the issue.
