ERICH KRAMPF has been appointed managing director of Mercedes-Benz UK Ltd. He succeeds Gerd Hoffmann, who akes up a new appointment won Daimler-Benz AG in Stuttgart.
Mr Krarnpe began his career with Daimler-Benz as personal assistant to Heinz Schmidt, a member of the management board, before becoming director of export for Comecon countries ,ind Yugoslavia.
New president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers is Sir Hugh Ford, who takes over from Dr Ewen M'Ewen, Sir Hugh is professor of mechanical engineering and head of the department of mechanical engineering at Imperial College, London.
Chrysler UK managing director G, A. Lacey has been elected as one of seven new fellows of the British Institute of Management.

We announce with regret the deaths of Tom Bridges, S. Gunnel and Stan Stannet.
Mr Bridges was former president of the Motor Agents Association and president of Chiltern Motor Holdings.
Mr Gunnel, 63, had been employed by the Freight Transport Association since 1959. He was member-liaison executive for the South East Metropolitan and South West regions of FTA whom he represented on the CIVILDcN ,national executive committee for the past. 10 years.
Mr Stannet, involved with truck sales in the \Vest Mid lands for many years, was West Midland Truck Sales Ltd sales manager for Shropshire.
