at Freightliners and National Carriers depots has been called off. The men will return to National Freight Corporation negotiating procedures. The news follows talks between the NUR and the Government's Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service, which the NFC also attended.
Action was threatened over a claim by the union that the men are owed 42 weeks at £4.28 a week dating back to 1974 and 1975.
Official strike action was timed for May 9 and the threat was that both the NFC companies would be hit by official action unless there was a settlement of the two-year-old dispute.
