ON exhibition for the first time in this country will be the range of American Dempster handling equipment for bulk materials now manufactured in Britain under licence by the Powell Duffryn Engineering Co., Ltd., Maindy, Cardiff (Stand J16).

The Dumpster device to be shown comprises lifting apparatus mounted at the rear of a normal lorry chassis. It permits special containers to be raised from ground level to lock in a carrying position, discharge of the load being by tipping or by using drop-bottom containers. Other Dempster designs include

the Dumpmaster high-compaction refuse body and the Dinosaur demountable and recoverable container body.

The DunnSpericer Bulk flo design, which will be introduced at Earls Court by Dunn's Motors, Ltd., Taunton, is thought to be the hest bulkdelivery vehicle which can take on its load by suction and discharge it conventionally by blowing. The four-compartment body, which is primarily designed for animal feeding stuffs, is double-skinned and constructed in light alloy.

Grain can be sucked into it from a silo or free-standing heap at the rate of 12 tons per hour, whilst the discharge rate is said to be higher than normal because a large blower is used.

F. E. Callow (Engineers), Ltd., Liverpool, will show their demountable bulk delivery equipment which can be removed easily from the vehicle to which it is fitted to leave a clear platform for sacked loads (Stand CC6). A typical installation comprises four containers mounted on a 7-ton chassis feeding a central trough and rotary blower valve through shutter valves and apertures in the platform body.

Since its introduction to this country some two years ago, the Cargon system has been installed in many industries. It consists of a type of stillage which can be used for intermediate handling or loaded in advance on a bay to await the arrival, of the vehicle.

. The platform of the vehicle carries tracks on to which the loaded stillage can be pushed by hand. The system reduces turn-round time for vehicles and will be demonstrated on the West Brompton forecourt by .Cargon Transport (Great Britain), Ltd., Birmingham, and included in the display of Fisher and Ludlow, Ltd., Birmingham, on Stand Hg inside the ball.

A new mobile automatic bagging and weighing plant designed for the retail coal trade is to be exhibited by C. H. Johnson (Machinery), Ltd. it can be installed in single or multiple units, has a hopper which can be fed by standard loading shovels and incorporates de-slacking apparatus.

For powdered materials, the bulk-materials handling division of Pressoturn, Ltd., Leamington Spa, Warwicks, offer their Tote system (Stand JJ11). The Tote bin on which -it is based can be carried in multiple units on vehicles, being lifted on and off by fork-lift trucks, and is tipped for discharge by associated equipment.

Automatic coal dispensing and weighing equipment will be displayed pictorially by Charrold, Ltd., Trinity Square, London, E.C.3, and demonstrated during the exhibition at their nearby Warwick Road depot.
